A homeowner in Baton Rouge, Louisiana contacted United Fire & Water Damage of Louisiana after a slab leak beneath the kitchen caused extensive water damage throughout multiple areas of the home. Following the initial inspection, our technicians performed comprehensive moisture readings in every room to determine the extent of the water intrusion. Based on the findings, it was determined that the affected flooring throughout several areas of the residence would need to be removed to properly access trapped moisture and begin the structural drying process.

Our mitigation team carefully removed the damaged wood and laminate flooring from the living room, along with the affected baseboards, before strategically placing commercial-grade air movers throughout the home. During demolition, the master bathroom vanity was removed to access hidden moisture, and drywall in the hallway bathroom was removed after microbial growth was discovered. A two-foot flood cut was also completed behind the master bathroom vanity to remove water-damaged drywall and allow the wall cavity to dry properly. Throughout the project, United Fire & Water Damage continuously monitored moisture levels to ensure the structure was drying effectively. Additional moisture readings taken behind the kitchen cabinets confirmed that the drywall in those areas remained within acceptable limits and did not require removal. Once demolition was complete, the work areas were thoroughly swept, vacuumed, and cleaned before a final post-demolition DocuSketch was completed to document the condition of the property.
