Job completed for Milo- water leak
Completion date: April 8, 2024
Location: Baton Rouge, LA
Why did the customer contact us?
United Fire & Water responded to a homeowner in Baton Rouge, Louisiana dealing with a bathroom water leak caused by an overcut subfloor, which left the toilet flange unsecured and allowed water to seep into surrounding areas. When our team arrived, we inspected the space using professional moisture meters and confirmed elevated moisture levels in the sheetrock and baseboards. Because water from a toilet leak can spread quickly and damage structural materials, immediate mitigation was necessary to prevent further deterioration and possible mold growth.
Solutions provided:
To begin the remediation process, United Fire & Water performed a 2-foot flood cut along the affected walls, removing wet sheetrock and taking off the damaged baseboards. We also addressed the saturated subfloor and installed specialized drying equipment and dehumidifiers to bring the space back to a safe moisture level. Our team monitored the drying process daily and ensured the entire area met IICRC drying standards before transitioning into the repair phase. This step is critical in preventing hidden moisture pockets and long-term structural damage. Once the bathroom was fully dry, we moved into full repairs and restoration. United Fire & Water replaced the sheetrock, reinstalled the baseboards, and completed all necessary finish work, including priming and painting the walls and baseboards to ensure a seamless appearance. By the end of the project, the bathroom was restored to pre-loss condition, and the homeowner had a clean, safe, and structurally sound space once again. United Fire & Water remains Baton Rouge’s trusted provider for toilet leaks, water damage repairs, structural drying, and complete restoration services.
