Why did the customer contact us?
The water damage project began after an ice maker supply line broke on the second story of an apartment complex in Baton Rouge, LA, allowing water to drain into multiple units below. The uncontrolled water flow impacted first-floor apartments and several adjacent areas, requiring immediate water damage restoration services. United Fire & Water responded promptly to assess the scope of damage throughout the affected apartments in Baton Rouge, LA, focusing on stopping secondary damage and preventing moisture-related issues.
Solutions provided:
In Apartment A-5 in Baton Rouge, LA, significant water damage required the removal of all baseboards, shoe trim, and vinyl flooring throughout the unit. Lower kitchen cabinets were also removed due to water intrusion, and demolition is ongoing in the second-floor apartment where the loss originated, including baseboards, shoe trim, and potentially drywall. These removals were necessary to expose wet materials and allow proper structural drying after the ice maker supply line failure.
Apartment A-7 experienced minor water damage limited to shoe trim and baseboards where water traveled along the sill plate in the bedroom. In this Baton Rouge, LA apartment, baseboards and trim were removed, while insulation and drywall were confirmed dry. One axial air mover and a Phoenix R250 dehumidifier were set to aid drying, and weep holes were installed to allow airflow within the wall cavity. Additionally, in Apartment A-105, small sections of drywall and insulation were removed—approximately 10 square feet of drywall and 6 square feet of insulation—to allow proper drying of exterior and dining room wall cavities behind the refrigerator. This project highlights United Fire & Water’s expertise in multi-unit water damage restoration throughout Baton Rouge, LA.
