Job completed for Berthelot- water damage

Completion date: January 10, 2024

Location: Addis, LA

Why did the customer contact us?

A commercial property in Addis, LA experienced water damage after a bottle filler in the attic overflowed, allowing water to spread across approximately 80% of the office space. The incident left standing water across the floor, requiring immediate extraction and mitigation. The water source was shut off, and plumbing repairs were scheduled to prevent further intrusion.

Solutions provided:

Upon inspection, the carpeted areas appeared dry on the surface; however, infrared imaging revealed elevated moisture levels within the sheetrock walls, particularly along sections that were in direct contact with the floor. Moisture readings confirmed that water had wicked up into the walls, reaching approximately 11 inches above the baseboard in certain areas. Other walls that were elevated above the framing allowed airflow beneath them and showed less impact. Our team recommended a 1' x 15' flood cut to remove the affected sheetrock and properly dry the wall cavity, as limited airflow could trap moisture and lead to further damage or mold growth. The property owner declined this recommendation and opted instead to reposition drying equipment, including dehumidifiers and air movers, to target the affected walls. A follow-up visit was scheduled to monitor moisture levels and reassess conditions, ensuring the drying process continues effectively.
